Ancient & Modern by Anthony Fabian
September 10, 2011
Friends and colleagues reflect on Christopher's career to date in a birthday tribute by Anthony Fabian.
Available as a podcast here or from Gramophone magazine, the Academy of Ancient Music and iTunes, and featuring key recordings from his discography, the programme charts the developments of Christopher's career — as keyboard player, broadcaster, scholar and conductor — alongside those of the music industry at large.
Contributors include singers Emma Kirkby, Catherine Bott, James Bowman and David Thomas; long-time AAM leader Catherine Mackintosh; former AAM General Manager, Paul Hughes; Chairman of the AAM Board, Christopher Purvis; former Decca recording engineer John Dunkerley; Neville Marriner, with whom Christopher worked as continuo player and musicologist for the Academy of St Martin in the Fields; James Jolly, Editor-in-chief of Gramophone magazine; and Nicholas Kenyon, formerly Controller of BBC Radio 3 and Director of the Proms and now Managing Director of the Barbican Centre. Anthony Fabian directs and produces feature films and classical music documentaries.
